If you're a West Oakland resident who has attended our nutrition education programs, you have the opportunity to participate in our Community Health and Nutrition DemonstratorS (HANDS) program. HANDS offer cooking and nutrition demonstrations at hospitals, schools, public events, and other community-based gatherings.
The Community HANDS program has also benefited from our deep commitment to community-driven health projects. One of our current Community HANDS trainers has taken a significant leadership role in bringing HANDS demonstrations to new facilities and institutions and sees her work to run the program as part of her entrepreneurship training from the Women’s Initiative for Self Employment.
