Ingredients

2 lg. turnips, peeled and cut into chunks

4 lg. potatoes, peeled and quartered

1/2 c. finely chopped onion

2 tbsp. of butter

3/4 tsp. salt

1/8 tsp. pepper

Procedure

Cook turnips, covered, in a small amount of boiling salted water for  10 minutes; add potatoes and onion; and cook until vedetables are tender, 15 or 20 minutes. Drain well. Mash vegetables with butter, salt, and pepper. Serve hot.

Makes 4 1/2 cups
