Food Stamp Program (or EBT)

The United States Department of Agriculture's Food Stamp program (newly renamed as SNAP) has been instrumental in helping Americans get back on their feet.  People's Grocery shares their vision to help those who need help, and has partnered with the USDA to support and accept payments for Grub Boxes and Wholesale Hookup Program food items using food stamps.

The Alameda County Food Bank offers a Food Stamp Information Line 1-800-870-3663 that can help you apply.

What Are Food Stamps?

Food Stamps are electronic benefits that can be used like cash to buy food at any store that has a sign displaying the Cardinal Card or the Quest sign. Food stamps are electronically added monthly to a debit card (EBT card) that can be issued once all qualifications are met.

Eligible households will receive an EBT card that may be used like a bank debit card to purchase eligible food items from your account. The application process can be done via the internet. See below for forms and food stamps eligibility requirements and link to the USDA for up to the date specific information about food stamps, USDA food and nutrition programs, free printable coupons and much more.
